(10 December 2012, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or “the Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) launched the NWS Scholarships for Employees’ Children Scheme this year for the children of employees who have been newly admitted to universities with outstanding performance. The Scheme enhances the family-friendly practices of the Group and expresses care for employees.


An awards presentation ceremony was held today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Twelve awardees have demonstrated outstanding achievements in academic and non-academic fields, including sports, music, arts and culture and volunteering. The awardees’ parents work in the Group’s member companies, namely New World First Bus Services Limited, Citybus Limited, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited, Vibro (H.K.) Limited, Sky Connection Limited and Free Duty.


“NWS Holdings is committed to human capital and endeavours to foster employees’ sense of belonging through family-friendly practices. We hope that the Scholarships Scheme can encourage and support the education of the young generation and unleash their full potential so that they can give back to society in return.” Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director of NWS Holdings, remarked at the ceremony.


The employees’ children who received awards have been admitted to the University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and other tertiary education institutions. As well as attending the ceremony, the awardees showed their talents by performing violin and guzheng, delivering a speech and performing Chinese Martial Arts.


NWS Holdings always values and cares for its staff members. Apart from the Scholarships Scheme, all employees are entitled to three days’ paid examination leave and education subsidy. NWS Holdings was also one of the first companies to offer paternity leave, birthday leave and marriage leave. It endeavours to create a caring environment for its employees.
