(25 February 2012, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) today celebrated the 9th anniversary of its First Trading Day by organizing NWS Caring Day 2012. To mark the occasion, Tsang Yam Pui, Patrick Lam, Tommy Cheung, William Doo Jr and Brian Cheng, Executive Directors of the Group, and more than 100 members of staff accompanied 50 families from Tin Shui Wai on a Sea and Land Tour around Hong Kong.
The event was organized in partnership with Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association (“YWCA”). “Families are the building blocks of a healthy and well integrated community,” said Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director and Chairman of Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) Committee, NWS Holdings. “By organizing this tour we hope we can strengthen family bonds and also help children from remote areas connect with the rest of Hong Kong.” He also expressed his thanks to the NWS Volunteer Alliance members for their unfailing support in community service. The members of the NWS Volunteer Alliance have dedicated 80,000 hours to community service activities in the past ten years.
The Sea and Land Tour made use of NWS Holdings’ various operations around Hong Kong as stages in the excursion. First, the families and staff took New World First Bus/ Citybus buses to visit Cheung Sha Wan dockyard – the home of New World First Ferry (“NWFF”). They then took the ferry to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (“HKCEC”) and enjoyed a buffet lunch. “We hope that the families enjoyed this tour and at the same time learnt a little about the various activities of NWS Holdings,” added Mr Tsang.
As part of its commitment to environmental protection, NWS Holdings purchased carbon credits to offset emissions arising from the Sea and Land Tour.
For the past seven years NWS Holdings has marked the anniversary of its first trading day by holding an NWS Caring Day, in which its staff volunteers to help the disadvantaged in the community.
