NWS Awards Presentation Ceremony recognises outstanding employees and teams

15.12.2014

(15 December 2014, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or “the Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) believes staff members are its most valuable asset. At the annual NWS Awards Presentation Ceremony held last week, outstanding employees were presented with individual and team awards in recognition of their remarkable achievements. The Group also gave scholarships to talented employees’ children and awarded corporate volunteers for their tireless contribution to society, demonstrating the Group’s dedication to fostering a caring corporate culture.

The ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre was attended by more than 300 participants, including management, awardees and their families. The Outstanding Employee Grand Awards recognise excellent staff performance over the previous year in three categories: Managerial Staff, General Office Staff and Frontline/Operational Staff. The Outstanding Team Grand Awards are newly introduced this year with the aim to reinforce team work and operational effectiveness. Following a series of selection processes and panel interviews, ten outstanding employees and three teams were eventually selected from twenty member companies.

Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director of NWS Holdings, said at the ceremony, “We recognise the outstanding achievements of our staff through various initiatives, cultivating a people-oriented and strive for excellence corporate culture. I believe that these successful role models will stimulate fellow members of staff and encourage them to deliver enhanced customer satisfaction and create value for stakeholders.”

The winners of the first Outstanding Team Grand Awards came from Hip Hing Construction Co., Ltd. (Hip Hing), Guangzhou Huanlong Expressway Co. Ltd and Vibro (H.K.) Limited respectively. The winning Hip Hing team has demonstrated the highest standards of safety, quality workmanship, timeliness and cost control in managing substation projects for CLP Power since 2000. Their persistence in striving for improvement has won numerous industry accolades including the Gold Award in the Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme, jointly organized by the Development Bureau and Construction Industry Council, for three consecutive years.

The Group has also extended its commitment and support to staff family members by organising the NWS Scholarships for Employees’ Children scheme, which is the third year in running. This year, twelve university scholarships were awarded to students for outstanding academic or non-academic achievements in areas including sports, music, arts and culture and volunteering. The Group hopes that the scheme will encourage the winners to unleash their potential and make a significant contribution to society in the future.

To further demonstrate its unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility, the Group established the NWS Volunteer Alliance (“the Alliance”) in 2001. Staff and their families are encouraged to serve the community and since the initiative was set up, the Alliance members have contributed over 120,000 service hours. This year, 23 staff and non-staff volunteers were presented with a range of individual awards including Top Service Hours, Best New Volunteer, Best Improvement, Most Talented Volunteer and Outstanding Volunteer Family Award.
