(27 June 2004, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or “the Group”; 0659.HK) received a silver award in the Community Relations category at the presentation ceremony of Sixth China Golden Awards for Excellence in Public Relations held in Beijing yesterday (26 June 2004). In addition to honouring the Group for a professionally developed campaign focusing on community service during SARS outbreak last year, the judges cited the corporate volunteer team for its dedication and devotion.
From May to July 2003, NWS Holdings organized a series of activities to support the community while SARS was receding. The Group held an essay competition to hearten an anxious Hong Kong population. The winning essays, together with true-life stories of local medical staff combating SARS, were published in commemorative books (photo 1). With the support of NWS Volunteer Alliance, the corporate volunteer team, a charity book sale was arranged with all the proceeds donated to Project Blossom, which helped the families affected by SARS.
