(6 June 2005, Hong Kong) Subsequent to the Caring Company Logo 2004/05 awarded by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service in February, NWS Holdings Limited’s (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; 0659.HK) corporate volunteer team, NWS Volunteer Alliance, has been presented with Gold Award for Volunteer Service by the Social Welfare Department for the fourth consecutive year. (Photo 1) Four volunteers also won Silver Award for Volunteer Service while 11 received Bronze Award.
Launched in November 2001, NWS Volunteer Alliance currently has more than 850 members who have devoted over 13,000 hours in community service, in which 4,300 hours were contributed in 2004. The prestigious volunteer award recognized the team’s continuing efforts in social and community commitments.
Apart from Gold Award for Volunteer Alliance, 15 volunteers from NWS Holdings and its subsidiaries including Urban Property Management Limited, Hip Hing Construction Company Limited, New World First Bus Services Limited, New World First Ferry Services Limited and Wai Hong Cleaning & Pest Control Company Limited were also awarded.
Ms Maria Cheung, Senior Manager - Corporate Communication of NWS Holdings and also one of the awardees, said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, NWS Holdings incorporates its diverse businesses and resources into community service to support the people in need. Last Saturday, more than 50 volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance participated in the elderly visit organized by Hong Kong YWCA Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre. We delivered rice dumplings and fruits to the solitary elderly in Sai Wan Ho and Quarry Bay districts to welcome the Dragon Boat Festival.” (Photo 2)
