(15 January 2006, Hong Kong) To celebrate the third anniversary of its First Trading Day in a special and meaningful way, NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 0659) designated 15 January 2006 as NWSH Caring Day, on which more than 600 staff members of its Corporate Office and 17 SBUs carried out community services with their respective business strengths across 18 districts in Hong Kong.
Mr K L Chan, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director; Mr Andrew Wong, Executive Director; Mr Patrick Lam, Executive Director; and Mr William Doo Jr, Director of NWS Holdings officiated at the kick-off ceremony held at New World Centre. Mr Chan said, “Since the Group was reorganized in January 2003, we see satisfactory growth in our infrastructure and service businesses. At the same time, we value the importance of corporate social responsibility. Therefore, we will continue to serve the society as well as our customers with dedications and enthusiasm, and convey the caring message to the public.”
At the ceremony, the officiating guests watered a sprout which soon grew into a fruitful tree, then they shared the fruits on the tree with the volunteers. This symbolized sharing of fruitful results of NWS Holdings with its staff and the community (photo 1).
After the ceremony, the management and staff of the Corporate Office and SBUs set off for their community services in 18 districts respectively. The services included computer training, home cleaning, visits to bus depot and laundry plant, talk on home safety and variety shows for different beneficiaries such as the elderly, new arrival children and underprivileged families.
NWS Holdings’ senior management and staff members of the Corporate Office organized a Lunar New Year variety show for the elderly at YWCA Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre. The directors and staff performed in various programmes in “NWSH TV Show” to teach the elderly on exercising, cookery, health tips, etc in an entertaining way. Gift bags were also presented to the elderly who enjoyed very much the happy and warm atmosphere (photo 2 & 3).
