(3 January 2011, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) announced that the Guangzhou Dongxin Expressway, in which the Group holds 40.8% equity interest, was officially opened on 31 December 2010.
The total investment of the Guangzhou Dongxin Expressway amounts to approximately RMB6 billion. The dual three to four-lane expressway, with a length of about 46.22 km, situates at the heart of the Pearl River Delta Region. Its strategic location connects to the Guangzhou East-South-West Ring Road and Nansha Port Expressway, completing the expressway network among the new Guangzhou Railway Station, the Nansha Port and the new Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. NWS Holdings sees great potential in this project and believes it will generate substantial returns to the Group given the robust economic growth of the Guangdong Province.
NWS Holdings’ road portfolio comprises 20 roads and related projects in Hong Kong and Mainland China’s strategic locations, such as Guangdong and Tianjin, covering approximately 618 km in length.
