(15 December 2017, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or “the Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) today won two gold awards at the 8 th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards. These honours, in the Enterprise and Volunteer Team categories, recognise the Group’s commitment to build powerful partnerships across sectors and cultivate a strong volunteer team to achieve social good. The Group’s member companies, Hip Hing Construction Company Limited and Vibro (HK) Limited, received merit awards in the same two categories while NWS Transport Services Limited and New World First Ferry Services Limited received the “Corporate Citizenship Logo”. In addition, at the 13th China Golden Awards for Excellence in Public Relations, the Group won a gold award in the CSR category and a bronze award in the Social Marketing category with two impactful community programmes.
Leveraging its diverse business network and resources, NWS Holdings supports long-term community programmes through charitable donations, corporate volunteering, and fostering cross-sector collaboration. Last year, the Group worked with schools and the wider community to launch the NWS Career Navigator For Youth programme, providing young people with life-planning support and inspiration. Moreover, the Group has since 2008 been promoting geoconservation through NWS Hong Kong Geo Wonders Hike, co-organised with the Association for Geoconservation, Hong Kong. The campaign aims to raise public awareness about environmental protection through a running race, public guided tours and the Young Ambassadors for Geoconservation Training programme.
The corporate volunteer team, “NWS Volunteer Alliance” is the backbone of the Group’s many CSR initiatives. Based on the vision of “serving the society with what we know, what we have and what our heart has told us”, the NWS Volunteer Alliance has contributed over 165,000 hours of community service since its inception in 2001. The Alliance won its first gold in the volunteer team category of Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards in 2011, and today’s win marks the sixth gold.
The Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards, organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council, recognises corporations that are devoted to fulfilling their social responsibilities. The scheme also raises public awareness of corporate citizenship, and the role of businesses in promoting sustainability in the economy, broader society and the environment.
The China Golden Awards for Excellence in Public Relations is organised by the China International Public Relations Association to promote professional development in the communications sector. They are recognised as China’s most prestigious awards in public relations. Winners this year were selected from nearly 200 entries from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
