NWS Holdings’s Zhiyi West Lake Service Area on Hangzhou Ring Road
Becomes the First Service Area in the Mainland to Receive LEED Platinum Certification

(13 Sep 2024 ─ Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS” or the “Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 659) is pleased to announce its Zhiyi West Lake Service Area (“West Lake Service Area”) on the Hangzhou Ring Road has successfully obtained the Platinum certification, the highest level of LEED certification, from the U.S. Green Building Council. This achievement also marks the First Service Area in the Mainland to receive this prestigious certification. Additionally, in June 2024, the West Lake Service Area was rated as a five-star service area by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Transportation, recognizing NWS’s excellence in green building and service quality from institutions in both the Mainland and international.

 

As the first service area in the Mainland to receive the highest level of LEED certification, the West Lake Service Area has been precisely designed in various aspects such as environment, energy, water consumption, materials, and smart equipments to achieve sustainable development. Key features include:

  • Green Building: Utilizes ultra-clear curtain wall glass complemented by unique wood designs, harmonizing with the surrounding environment while enhancing daylight collection and reducing indoor lighting electricity consumption.
  • Photovoltaic Power: Photovoltaic panels covering approximately 2,200 square meters has been installed on the rooftops of the building and parking lot, promoting the generation and application of renewable energy within the service area.
  • Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: Equipped with 79 charging stations for various brands and two large vehicle battery swapping stations, making it one of the service areas with the most charging bay in Zhejiang Province.
  • Water Conservation System: Features a wastewater treatment and rainwater harvesting system that reuses collected wastewater and rainwater to improve water use efficiency.
  • Smart Services: Adopts an integrated smart park management model, utilizing artificial intelligence for real-time monitoring and facility automation to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.

Built in 2004, the Zhiyi West Lake Service Area on the Hangzhou Ring Road underwent comprehensive  project enhancements by NWS starting in 2020 and officially commenced operations in mid-2022. It has now become a multifunctional smart service area integrating dining, leisure, and entertainment, attracting over 20 well-known brands. Its superior architectural design concept has also won several awards, including the “Design of the Year for Concept Design in MUSE Design Awards 2020,” the “Professional Award for Public Space Design in DNA Paris Design Awards 2021,” and the “Silver Award in Architecture in A’Design Award 2021.”
